John Mercanti joins Coin Snacks with Jack!

In this week’s Coin Snacks with Jacknumismatist Jack McNamara was joined by 12th Chief Engraver John Mercanti for a live interview. Each new episode of Coin Snacks with Jack will go live on YouTube every Wednesday at 3PM EST/Noon PST and feature special topics and informative interviews.  

In the fourth episode, available now at YouTube.com/RareCollectiblesTV, Jack asked John Mercanti his thoughts on numismatics and coin designJohn Mercanti is world famous for his America Silver Eagle design. The heraldic eagle reverse has been showcased on the ASE since its creation in 1986 and will finally be retired this year. Coming from his studio, John Mercanti shared some images of designs he’s worked on in the past and is currently working on. 

The most prolific coin engraver in United States history, John Mercanti designed the 1984 Olympic Gold Ten-Dolar commemorative coin, reverses for several state quarters, the American Silver Eagle, and the first ever $100 Platinum Eagle among many othersJohn Mercanti spoke on his early days as an artist at the U.S. Mint and working with Frank Gasparro. 

To match the occasion of such a fantastic guest, the snacks featured in the episode were next-level Philly Cheesesteaks to honor Philadelphia-born John Mercanti! Jack McNamara's sandwich came from Jim's South Street and John Mercanti's sandwich was from local favorite Randazzo's.
