- Even the coins produced at the Mexico City Mint, which are the most available, have an astonishingly low surviving population of just 3,008 examples in any condition graded by NGC.
- Even the Red Book, the most important reference book in US numismatics, only lists the Pillar Dollar up to Extremely Fine condition.
- That’s how rare it is in the condition we have today. If it weren’t for a once-in-a-lifetime hoard we just uncovered, finding these national treasures would be nearly impossible!
