The Morgan Dollar, designed by George T. Morgan, was minted from 1878 to 1904 and for one final year in 1921. This 1885-CC Morgan Dollar is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, making it a stunning addition to your numismatic collection. The illustrious CC mintmark Morgan Dollars were only minted at the legendary Carson City Mint of the Wild West from 1878 to 1893. With only 13 years of mintage, these issues have long been a collector's favorite. Very few Morgan Dollars survived in Brilliant Uncirculated condition despite being struck in high mintages. The Pittman Act of 1918 called for the melting of 270 million Morgan Dollars, which accounts for 40% of all Morgan Dollars struck. In addition, this coin comes from the GSA Hoard and is housed in the original government packaging. NGC and PCGS combined grades of any Morgan Dollar in Mint State condition only makes up about 2% of the remaining coins. With so few Morgan Dollars remaining in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and even fewer pedigreed to the famous GSA Hoard, this is a truly stunning numismatic piece that belongs in any collection.
