Set of 3: End of an Era Morgan Dollar Collection BU

Description

The Morgan Dollar's final year of issue in 1921 is perhaps the most significant date in which this world-renowned coin series was struck. Prior to the 1921 issues of the Morgan Dollar, the last Morgan Dollar was struck in 1904. However, in an attempt to aid Britain during World War I, the United States passed the Pittman Act of 1918. This act melted nearly half of all Morgan Dollars to be sold as bullion to Britain under the stipulation that an equal amount of Silver Dollars would be struck in the following years. As a result, the Morgan Dollar was brought back for a final year of issue in 1921. This End of an Era set includes the 1921-P, 1921-S, and 1921-D Morgan Dollars, which are the final three Morgan Dollars to ever be struck. As the only issue of the Morgan Dollar struck at the Denver Mint, the 1921-D is an indelible piece of any Morgan collection. 1921 stands out as a particularly interesting year for the Morgan Dollar due to its use of the micro-mintmark. The ''S'' and ''D'' micro-mintmarks used on these issues are significantly smaller than ever used on previous Morgan Dollars, making them unique one year only varieties.  To tie it all together, these stunning Morgan Dollars will come housed in a beautiful wooden collector's case. Due to current market conditions, limit of 1 per customer for this item.
