The Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle is considered to be the most beautiful coin design released by the United States Mint. Unfortunately, the technology at the time of mintage in 1907 did not allow for the Ultra High Relief design that the coin demanded. In 2009, to allow collectors to view this iconic coin design in its originally intended relief, the U.S. Mint released the Ultra High Relief Gold Eagle. This historic coin is about twice as thick as the Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle to display the full Ultra High Relief strike. The 2009 Ultra High Relief Gold Coin also features a lettered edge showcasing ''E PLURIBUS UNUM.'' Graded in perfect Mint State 70 and with a minuscule mintage of only 114,427 examples, this coin is a tremendous Absolute Rarity.
