Description
  • The Lincoln Cent began its mintage in 1909 and continues to be struck to this day
  • Victor David Brenner’s original design showcased the Wheat Ears reverse until 1958
  • The earliest examples of the 1909 Lincoln Cent included the designer’s initials, VDB, on the reverse
  • The VDB variety only occurred in the 1909 issue
  • Just 4 days after it was released, the VDB design was discontinued
  • Condition Rarity: Significantly less than one tenth of 1% are graded in Gem Mint State 66 RD condition
  • Only 573 finer known examples
  • Condition Rarity occurs when few coins survive in high grades making them difficult to find
  • Coins with the RD, or red, designation are among the most beautiful pieces as they have kept their original color
