Set of 2: 2019-W Lincoln Cents PF70

In 2019, for the first time in the history of the United States, the West Point Mint struck its “W” mintmark onto Lincoln Cents. This monumental occasion occurred in order to celebrate the 110th anniversary of Victor David Brenner’s Lincoln Cent design. Two of the issues that exhibit the “W” mintmark are the 2019-W Proof and 2019-W Reverse Proof Lincoln Cents. With a mintage of only 561,495 coins, the 2019-W Proof issue of the Lincoln Cent ranks among the rarest of coins in the series. In total, only 1.2% of the Proof issues have been graded Proof 70 Ultra Cameo. The Reverse Proof example has an even lower mintage with just 383,590 coins produced. Out of these coins, less than 1% have been graded a perfect Proof 70! With such low mintages and populations, these 2019-W Lincoln Cents are considered both Absolute and Condition Rarities!

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of our nation, is often considered to be one of the greatest leaders in the history of the world. When faced with the tragedy of the American Civil War, President Lincoln did not falter, instead he flourished and was able to preserve the Union. During this time, Lincoln delivered the Emancipation Proclamation, which led to the thirteenth amendment that finally ended slavery in America. Unfortunately, Lincoln was assassinated before he was able to see the thirteenth amendment be ratified into the Constitution.

The Lincoln Cent, designed by Victor David Brenner to honor President Lincoln, was initiated as a piece of United States coinage during the American Coin Renaissance. The mintage for the Lincoln Cent began in 1909 and continues to be issued to this day. Although the obverse has maintained the iconic image of President Lincoln, the reverse has changed multiple times. The first reverse design, called the Wheat Ears, was designed by Victor D. Brenner and minted from 1909 to 1958; The second design, called the Lincoln Memorial, was designed by Frank Gasparro and minted from 1959 to 2008; and the Union Shield, designed by Lyndall Bass was minted from 2010 and continues to be to this day. Add the first two “W” mintmark Lincoln Cents in PF70 to your numismatic collection for the low, low price of only $279!
