The Franklin Half Dollar, designed by John R. Sinnock, was minted from 1948 to 1963. In 1956, the Philadelphia Mint struck 669,384 examples of the proof Franklin Half Dollar. With such a miniscule mintage, this coin is considered an Absolute Rarity. This example has been graded in Proof 69 Ultra Cameo condition. Out of all 1956-P proof Franklin Half Dollars, only 202 have been graded in PF69 UCAM condition with no finer known examples. This example has also been struck with a die identified by Rick Tomaska as having an extremely clear strike. With no examples graded higher than this one, this stunning coin is not only a Condition Rarity, but is also the finest known example of the issue.
