1865 Plain 5 Indian Head Cent PCGS MS66+RD CAC
Out of the millions of 1865 Indian Head Cents struck, there are none finer of this variety and issue. Graded in Mint State 66+ Red condition, this 1865 Indian Head Cent is of the Plain 5 variety. Two different dies were used for the “5” in the 1865 on the obverse, with this example showcasing the plainer of them both. Cents with the Red designation are among the most eye-appealing as they have kept their original color. Finding an over 150 year old coin with its original color and in this high grade is no easy task. With none graded higher, this is, simply put, the finest known example.
