1836 Original Coin Alignment Gobrecht Dollar NGC/PCGS PF64
The Gobrecht Dollar, designed by Christian Gobrecht, was minted from 1836 to 1839. In 1836, the Philadelphia Mint struck 600 examples of the Gobrecht Dollar. This example has been graded in Proof 64 condition and is of the J-60 die variety. Out of all 1836 Gobrecht Dollars with J-60 die variety and in Alignment I, only 8 have been graded in PF64 condition with just 2 finer known examples. With such a minuscule mintage, an even lower PF64 population, and so few graded higher, this stunning coin is not only an Absolute and Condition Rarity, but also one of the finest known of the issue.
