Ancient Coins

For thousands of years there has been a rich history of using metallic objects as a form of currency. The first known metal currency was the Chinese Bu dating back to 650 BC. Although not circular, it is considered to be the first coin ever. Shortly after that, in 630 BC, the first modern coin was found in Ephesus, an ancient Greek city. The coin was circular and even contained devices on both the obverse and the reverse.
