The original Washington Quarter, designed by John Flanagan, was minted from 1932 to 1998 before the design was modified. This specific example was struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1946 and has been graded in Mint State 66 condition. Washington Quarters minted before 1965, like this example, were struck from 90% silver. Out of all 1946-P Washington Quarters struck, only 995 examples have been graded in Mint State 66 condition with just 204 examples graded higher. With such a low MS66 population and so few graded higher, this coin is a tremendous Condition Rarity.
