Released in the United States on May 21, 1980, 20th Century Fox’s “The Empire Strikes Back” was one of the most anticipated sequels in the history of science-fiction film. Illustrated by American artist Roger Kastel, this unrestored poster measures 40” by 60” and is graded in Very Fine+ condition. Front and center on this poster are the three leads of the film, with Han Solo and Princess Leia sharing a tender moment while Luke Skywalker rides a tauntaun on Hoth. This Style A version of the poster features the most iconic image associated with “The Empire Strikes Back,” making it a tremendous collectible item. Generally, posters of this size are challenging to preserve and exhibit strong folds and tears. This particular example, however, is one of the few that has managed to be kept in stunning Very Fine+ condition.
