The Peace Dollar not only superseded the illustrious Morgan Dollar in date, but in scarcity as well. Out of all of the 51,737,000 1922-P Peace Dollars minted, there are only about 2,300 graded Mint State 66, making this coin incredibly difficult to come across. Out of all graded examples, there are only 70 coins graded higher than this example. All of these coins are graded just one grade higher at MS67.
Designed by Anthony de Francisci, this coin was meant to symbolize the restoration of peace after World War I had concluded. The obverse features an image of Lady Liberty wearing a crown of rays while the reverse depicts a bald eagle perched on a mountain peak with an olive branch in its talons.
