This is a very nice example of a pistol box that was used by a Union soldier in the United States Civil War from 1861 to 1865. Pistol boxes like this one were a primary means of storage during the Civil War and were used extensively. This particular example has its original belt loops still intact. This pistol box’s great condition and its usage in the war make it an incredibly coveted artifact.
