The year 2021 marked the most significant change to the American Silver Eagle series to ever occur, as John Mercanti’s legendary heraldic eagle design was replaced after thirty-five years of production. As the first year of issue for Emily Damstra’s flying eagle design, the 2021 Type 2 ASE issue will always be among the most sought-after in the entire series. This specific example was struck at the West Point Mint and graded in perfect Proof 70 Deep Cameo condition. To add to the rarity of this set, the 2021-W Type 1 example is housed in an Advance Release holder hand-signed by designer Emily Damstra. Advance Release holders are reserved for coins submitted directly to NGC from approved mint dealers before the official release date. With a mintage of 384,312 examples, the 2021-W Type 2 American Silver Eagle is considered an Absolute Rarity.
