Description
- Struck at the turn-of-the-century in 1900 at the San Francisco Mint
- The San Francisco Mint and the Double Eagle are closely associated as the influx of gold from the California Gold Rush led to the creation of the Double Eagle
- The Liberty Head Gold Double Eagle is the first twenty-dollar US coin, created due to the influx of gold from California in 1849
- Condition Rarity: Significantly less than 1% of the entire mintage is graded in MS62 condition
- Condition Rarity is when so few coins survive in a particular grade that they are difficult to find
- Large gold coins like this one are incredibly hard to find due to Executive Order 6102which called for the melting of 39% of all Double Eagles ever struck
- The same grade as the example housed in the illustrious Smithsonian Institution
