The First Spouse Bronze Medal series is released alongside the First Spouse Gold Coin series, using similar designs to honor each First Lady of the United States of America. Struck in 2007, this first medal in the series showcases the nation’s original First Lady, Martha Washington. Based on her famous portrait by American artist Charles Wilson Peale, the obverse displays Martha Washington as she exists in the memories of all Americans while the reverse highlights her efforts to help the Continental Army. Included in this set is a vintage, unused 1938 U.S. stamp celebrating Martha Washington.
