Independent Grading Services
Over the past 50 years, many innovations have changed the world of coin collecting. The most drastic of which was the introduction of the independent third-party grading service. These services created a new standard for numismatics by authenticating and grading a coin's quality. A majority of the coins offered by Rare Collectibles TV and Rick and Jack's Private Advisory Coin Team have been certified by the two leading third-party grading services in the world:
NGC
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) and the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). These third-party grading services employ full-time professional graders who follow rigorous criteria to determine the quality of a coin in an objective way. Once graded, a coin is placed into a high quality, state of the art holder, which ensures that it is permanently preserved in that condition.

Series Collecting
Series collecting is for those who want to specialize in a particular coin series with a goal of completing the series. Type CollectingType collecting is for those who want a more comprehensive historical look at our country's coinage. As opposed to focusing on one series, a type collector would acquire a representative example of each US coin design that was struck. The benefits of type collecting include a variety of coins as well as a wide overview of numismatics as a whole. An example of a type set would be a gold set that includes a graded example of every denomination and design of gold coin produced in US history.

1913 Type 2 Buffalo Nickel PCGS MS65Spearheaded by 26th President Theodore Roosevelt in the early 1900s, the Renaissance of American Coinage reimagined circulating United States coinage as breathtaking pieces of fine art. The coins of this era were each developed by the premier sculptors of the day. Unlike previous coins produced for efficiency, these coins were struck solely to showcase our country's artistry.
The first coins to be redesigned in 1907 were the $10 Saint-Gaudens Gold Eagle and the $20 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle. The Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle has since gained a reputation as the most beautiful US coin to ever be struck. It is due to the tremendous relationship between President Theodore Roosevelt and Augustus Saint-Gaudens that these numismatic icons exist today. The beauty of these coins was so inspirational that within 14 years, every piece of circulating coinage received a redesign.
To this day, the coins of the Renaissance Era are lauded as the most impressive and artistically captivating works that the US Mint has released. The remarkable coinage of the Renaissance Era stretches across the entire spectrum of our coinage from cent to double eagle. These breath-taking piece of art include the Lincoln Cent by Victor David Brenner, the Buffalo Nickel by James Earle Fraser, the Mercury Dime and Walking Liberty Half Dollar by Adolph Weinman, the Standing Liberty Quarter by Hermon MacNeil, the Indian Head Quarter and Half Eagle by Bela Lyon Pratt, as well as the Indian Head Gold Eagle and Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle by Augustus Saint-Gaudens.

Silver Dollars
George T. Morgan Designer of Morgan DollarIn 1792, our founding fathers officially established the Dollar as our standard unit of money in the United States. This decision was a crucial statement made on a global stage, asserting to the world that America was a powerful, independent country that was here to stay.
Two cherished series struck by the US Mint are the Morgan Silver Dollar and the Peace Silver Dollar. Together these two coins represent America's tremendous rise to power and symbolize the fulfillment of the promise that our founding fathers made.
The Morgan Dollar, produced from 1878 to 1921, has its roots directly in the biggest silver discovery in American history: the Comstock Lode of Nevada. Similar to the California Gold Rush's role in developing the West Coast, the Comstock Lode was the catalyst of the American Wild West Frontier's emergence.
Following the American victory in World War I, we wanted to celebrate the restoration of peace to the world and commemorate the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for liberty. In turn, the Peace Silver Dollar was struck from 1921 to 1935 and has come to represent American freedom and triumph.

20th Century Contemporary ClassicsAccording to Congress, in the United States, a coin design must be used for 25 years before it is eligible for a new design. There are, however, outstanding circumstances that cause a design to be changed prematurely. The most historic example of this is the transition from the Franklin Half Dollar to the Kennedy Half Dollar. Due to the tragic assassination of President John F. Kennedy in November of 1963, Congress voted to shorten the mintage of the Franklin Half Dollar. As a result, the Franklin Half Dollar's mintage, which started in 1948, ended in 1963. In January of 1964, the first Kennedy Half Dollar was struck to honor our fallen 35th president.
For decades, the rarity of these monumental Half Dollar series flew under the radar of numismatists across the country. In recent years, due to the lifework of Rick Tomaska, a spotlight has shined on these tremendous numismatic treasures for the first time. In demand for the Franklin and Kennedy Half Dollars has skyrocketed, making them the beating heart of modern collections.

Modern American Gold CoinageWith precious metal completely removed from our coinage for decades, President Ronald Reagan recognized America's need for a reliable source of gold and silver. To address this, President Reagan signed the Liberty Coin Act and the Gold Bullion Act in 1985. The very next year, the American Gold Eagle and the American Silver Eagle were introduced to the United States. Since their debuts in 1986, these two coin series have taken the world by storm.
