- From 2005 to 2010, coins sold in Special Mint Sets had distinctive satin finishes
- This 2008 John Quincy Adams Presidential Dollar was part of the Special Mint Set
- Presidential Dollars struck from 2007 to 2010 have a lettered edge reading “• 2007 P E PLURIBUS UNUM • IN GOD WE TRUST”
- As the lettered edge is applied in a separate step from the initial striking, some coins are missing this element
