This set of 7 Franklin Half Dollars contains every year of issue from 1957 to 1963, which is the final year that the series was issued. Each of these stunning coins is graded Proof 67 by NGC and has an extremely limited population of 1% or less in the grade. The Franklin Half Dollar was designed by John R.. Sinnock, the eighth Chief Engraver of the United States, and was minted from 1948 to 1963. The obverse depicts a rendition of Benjamin Franklin based off of Jean-Antoine Houdons famous bust of Franklin. The reverse exhibits an image of the iconic cracked Liberty Bell. Although the Franklin Half Dollar was set to be minted for twenty five years, its mintage was cut down to only sixteen years. This was done in order to commemorate our fallen President, John F. Kennedy, after his tragic assassination. As a result, President Kennedys image replaced Franklins on the half dollar starting in 1964. Along with this set of coins you will receive a completely free, hand-signed and numbered hard cover copy of Rick Tomaskas third edition of A Guide Book of Franklin and Kennedy Half Dollars.
