The original Washington Quarter, designed by John Flanagan, was minted from 1932 to 1998 before the design was modified. This set contains a Washington Quarter from each year that they were struck for the Special Mint Set. Graded in Specimen 67 Cameo condition, these coins come from polished dies but were not struck multiple times like proof coinage. Special Mint Sets were issued from 1965 to 1967 when the mint stopped striking proof issues due to a nationwide shortage of circulating coins. With low mintages that were not challenged until 25 years later, Special Mint Sets are infamously difficult to find in high grades. Each example in this set has SP67 CAM populations under 700 examples, making each issue a Condition Rarity.
