The Morgan Dollar, designed by George T. Morgan, was minted from 1878 to 1904 and for one final year in 1921. This 11 coin set is a wonderful start for your Morgan Dollar collection as it contains coins from both early and late years in the issue. The 1879-S comes from the Morgan Dollar's second year of issue, and this example features the third reverse, noted by the slanted top arrow feather. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the 1904-O is drawn from the Morgan Dollar's final year of issue at the New Orleans Mint. Every Morgan Dollar included here is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, making each coin a stunning addition to your numismatic collection. Very few Morgan Dollars survived in Brilliant Uncirculated condition despite being struck in high mintages. The Pittman Act of 1918 called for the melting of 270 million Morgan Dollars, which accounts for 40% of all Morgan Dollars struck. NGC and PCGS combined grades of any Morgan Dollar in Mint State condition only makes up about 1.5% of the remaining coins.
