The Silver Peace Dollar, designed by Anthony de Francisci, was minted from 1921 to 1928 and once again from 1934 to 1935. Created to honor the restoration of peace to the world after World War I concluded, the Silver Peace Dollar is one of America's most renowned coins. Out of all Peace Dollar issues, 1921 examples are the only examples in the series to be struck in the originally intended high relief. Due to the difficulties of producing high relief coins at the time, the Peace Dollar was quickly changed to a low relief design in 1922. As the only representations to display Francisci's originally intended vision of this iconic design, the 1921 High Relief Peace Dollar is a numismatic favorite.
