The 1907-P Indian Head Gold Eagle graded Mint State 62 by either NGC or PCGS is one of the two coins designed by the famed sculptor, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, before his death in 1907. Out of the 239,406 1907-P Indian Head Gold Eagle that were minted, only 1.9% of the population graded between PCGS and NGC is Mint State 62. In 1933, Executive Order 6102 was passed by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. In hopes of boosting the economy, this order recalled gold from the public in order to be melted down. Unfortunately for numismatists, populations of coins like this 1907-P Indian Head Gold Eagle drastically decreased. This made gold coins of this era even more difficult to come across than they already were.
