Capped Bust Half Dollar1807-1839

The Capped Bust Half Dollar, designed by John Reich, was minted from 1807-1839. During its history this coin was produced primarily at the Philadelphia mint, but for 1838 and 1839 it was also produced at the New Orleans mint. The obverse depicts Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap while the reverse contains an image of a heraldic eagle carrying an olive branch and a bundle of arrows in its talons.
