Susan B. Anthony

The Susan B. Anthony Dollar, designed by Frank Gasparro, was minted from 1979-1981 and for its final year in 1999. It was minted at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco mints and was the first coin in U.S history to depict a woman that was neither a model nor a mythical figure. The obverse features Susan B. Anthony and the reverse depicts an eagle on the moon, which is an adaptation of Apollo 11’s insignia.
