Eisenhower Dollar

The Eisenhower Dollar, designed by Frank Gasparro, was minted from 1971-1978 at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco mints. It is the first silver dollar minted that does not contain the standard 90% silver. Depicted on the obverse is a profile of President Eisenhower and the reverse contains an eagle landing on the moon, which is an adaptation of the Apollo 11 insignia.
