Error Coins

Not every coin produced by the mint is struck perfectly, which is why some coins have different varietals. However, what happens when a coin is struck so poorly that it can’t be circulated? It either gets melted down or sent to the corrugated press to be crushed. These coins are crushed by the corrugated press, cancelling their ability to be exchanged as currency. Other errors coins find their way into circulation and ultimately into collector’s hands.
