British Brass Barreled Percussion Pistol

  • An honest converted flintlock pistol by E. Ketland & Co of England.
  • Brass barrel marked London with what appears to be Birmingham proof marks present.
  • Appears to be about a 54 caliber bore.
  • Missing screw on side plate with brass oval escutcheon on back of wrist.
  • Action works as it should, stock in good condition with some loss on underside of lock plate.
  • Thomas Ketland & Co. was a firearms manufacturer founded in Birmingham, England c. 1760.
  • W. Ketland was Thomas Ketland Sr's eldest son. He was originally a partner alongside his father and William Walker. He petitioned to liquidate his part in the company in 1800. The partnership was dissolved in 1801. He died in 1804 but the business carried on to at least 1831.
  • Overall a honest brass barreled pistol.
