1948-P Franklin Half Dollar NGC MS68 Star FBL

With 1948 being the first year that the Franklin Half Dollar was struck, it is already a monumental date for the series. When taking grade into account, it becomes clear that highly graded 1948-Ps are great rarities. In Choice and Gem condition this coin is difficult to find, but still possible to acquire with enough dedication. Stepping into Superb Gem condition, however, changes the game. There are only a handful of Franklins that have been graded in Superb Gem condition, all but one of which are Mint State 67. This specific example is the only 1948 Franklin to be graded Mint State 68 with a Full Bell Line designation, and it has been awarded a star nonetheless. With no other 1948-P Franklins graded in MS68, and none graded higher, this example has solidified its status as the finest known example. This finest known, first year of issue Franklin Half Dollar was placed with a happy client by Rare Collectibles TV’s Private Advisory Coin Team.
