The Ten Dollar Liberty Head Gold Eagle was minted from 1838 to 1907, making it the most prolific Ten Dollar Gold Eagle minted in United States history. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the obverse of this coin portrays a beautiful rendition of Lady Liberty adorned by a coronet inscribed with the word “Liberty.” The reverse of this coin depicts a victorious heraldic eagle and for the first time in Gold Eagle history, the denomination “Ten  D.” Today we have the final year of issue 1907-P Ten Dollar Liberty Head Gold Eagle in Mint State 64 condition! Out of all 1907-P Gold Eagles, significantly less than 1% have been graded in MS64!

In 1792, as a young country in its formative stages, the United States of America needed to assert its status as a new global power to the leading countries around the world. As a way to firmly declare to the world that the United States of America was now an independent country that would continue to propel freedom, the First President of the United States, George Washington, signed the Coinage Act of 1792. This Act established the Dollar as America’s standard unit of money and created all denominations of coinage that would be used in our newly formed, glorious country. The Ten Dollar Gold Eagle was chosen as the highest denomination of coinage as well as the standard unit of gold coinage.

These rare gold coins became even rarer when President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed Executive Order 6102 in 1933. This executive order was meant to help boost the declining American economy by recalling public gold and melting it back down. Due to the large amount of gold that was seized from the public at this time, coins like the 1907-P Ten Dollar Liberty Head Gold Eagle became even more limited than they already were.
