1907 High Relief Flat Rim Saint Gaudens Gold Double NGC MS67
Several varieties of the Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle were struck in 1907, the first year it was issued. This example is of the High Relief, Flat Rim variety, meaning that it was struck with higher relief than later years and with a non-raised rim. The shared mintage between both Flat Rim and Wire Rim Saint-Gaudens in only 12,367 examples. Of the two types, Flat Rim examples are harder to find in higher grades. Between PCGS and NGC, the highest grade a 1907 High Relief Flat Rim Saint-Gaudens has received is MS68+. This stunning example is one of only 26 graded in Mint State 67 condition, with just 11 coins graded higher. With such a low MS67 population and so few graded higher, this coin is not only an Absolute and Condition Rarity, but it is also one of the finest known of the issue.
