While the 1902 and 1906 Philadelphia issues have lower mintages, the 1905-P Liberty Head Double Eagle is considerably more rare overall and in especially in Mint State condition. As over 6 million examples were struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1905, production was significantly decreased the following year with just 58,919 coins struck. Only 4 examples of this issue exists in MS64+ condition with just one higher in MS65 condition, making this 1905-P Liberty Head Double Eagle among the finest known.
