The Liberty Head Gold Double Eagle, designed by James B. Longacre, was minted from 1850 to 1907. In 1876, the Philadelphia Mint struck 45 examples of the Liberty Head Double Eagle. This example has been graded in Proof 65 Ultra Cameo condition. Out of all 1876-P Liberty Head Double Eagles, only 2 have been graded in PF65 UCAM condition with no finer known examples. With no examples graded higher than this one, this stunning coin is not only a Condition Rarity, but is also among the finest known examples of the issue.
