Beginning in 1986, the United States reintroduced gold coinage to the American people in the form of the American Gold Eagle series. In 2021, the U.S. Mint struck an extremely limited number of uncirculated ¼oz $10 American Gold Eagles with the W Mintmark from unpolished proof dies. NGC has only certified 2,542 examples of this variety. Uncirculated American Gold Eagles do not normally show a mintmark, making this an extremely rare variety. With so few certified by NGC and just 92 examples graded in perfect Mint State 70 condition housed in the hand-signed Jennie Norris holder, this coin is considered an Absolute Rarity.
