1961 Franklin Half Dollar NGC PF67+ Double Die Reverse Everest We the People Label

Description

The Franklin Half Dollar, designed by John R. Sinnock, was minted from 1948 to 1963. The Proof issues of the Franklin Half Dollar would not commence until two years later in 1950. This Franklin Half Dollar was struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1961 and has been graded in Proof 67+ condition with Doubled Die Reverse. Out of every Proof Franklin struck in 1961, this is the only example that has been graded in PF67+ condition by NGC with a Doubled Die Reverse. Coins with a Doubled Die Reverse have doubling in the design caused by a faulty die hub. With only one example in PF67+ Star condition with DDR, this 1961 Franklin Half Dollar is a tremendous Absolute Rarity. To tie it all together, this coin will come in the NGC exclusive “We the People” holder, which is a collaborative effort between Rick Tomaska and NGC. These renowned holders are only given to Franklin Half Dollars that Rick Tomaska has inspected and deemed to exhibit the highest quality luster and eye appeal for their year and grade. Recognizing the pedigree of this stunning coin, this 1961 Franklin Half Dollar has been designated an Everest selection which is reversed for coins featuring the highest quality cameos after being personally inspected by Rick Tomaska.
