1927-P Saint Gaudens Gold Double Eagle NGC/PCGS MS64

Description

The Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle, named after its designer Augustus Saint-Gaudens, was minted from 1907 to 1933. Often considered the most beautiful piece of coinage struck in American history, the Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle is truly an iconic coin. This stunning example was struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1927 and has been graded in Mint State 64 condition. The 1927-P Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle is the perfect "With Motto” example for your type set as it is known for its sharp strike, high eye appeal, and booming luster.

Coins like this 1927-P Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle became increasingly rare as a result of President Franklin D. Roosevelt signing Executive Order 6102 in 1933. This order sought to revive the American economy by recalling circulating American gold coins to be melted down.
