1921-D Morgan Dollar NGC/PCGS MS66

The Morgan Dollar, designed by George T. Morgan, was minted between 1878 to 1904 and for one final year in 1921. This example was struck at the Denver Mint in 1921 and is graded in Mint State 66 condition. As both the final year of issue and the only Morgan Dollar ever struck at the Denver Mint, the 1921-D is prized by collectors. 1921 stands out as a particularly interesting year for the Morgan Dollar due to its use of the micro-mintmark. The “D” micro-mintmark used on this issue is significantly smaller than mintmarks ever used on previous Morgan Dollars, making this a unique one-year-only variety. Out of every 1921-D Morgan Dollar struck, only 828 examples have been graded in Mint State 66 condition with just 199 examples graded higher. With such a low MS66 population, this coin is a tremendous Condition Rarity.
