1913-D Saint Gaudens $20 Gold Double Eagle NGC/PCGS MS63

The Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle, designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, was minted from 1907 to 1933. Often considered the most beautiful piece of coinage struck in American history, the Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle is truly an iconic coin. This stunning example was struck at the Denver Mint in 1913 and has been graded in Mint State 63 condition. Out of every 1913-D Saint Gaudens Gold Double Eagle struck, less than 1% have been graded in MS63 condition. With a miniscule mintage of only 393,500 examples and an even lower MS63 population, this example is a tremendous Absolute and Condition Rarity.

Coins like this 1913-D Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle became increasingly rare as a result of President Franklin D. Roosevelt signing Executive Order 6102 in 1933. This order sought to revive the American economy by recalling circulating American gold coins to be melted down.
