1912-P Saint-Gaudens $20 Gold Double Eagle MS62

The Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle, designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, was minted from 1907 to 1933. Often considered the most beautiful piece of coinage struck in American history, the Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle is truly an iconic coin. This stunning example was struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1912 and has been graded in Mint State 62 condition. Out of all 1912-P Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagles struck, only 2% have been graded in MS62 condition. With a miniscule mintage of only 149,750 examples and an even lower MS62 population, this Saint-Gaudens is considered a tremendous Absolute and Condition Rarity.

Coins like this 1912-P Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle became increasingly rare as a result of President Franklin D. Roosevelt signing Executive Order 6102 in 1933. This order sought to revive the American economy by recalling circulating American gold coins to be melted down.
