1911-P Saint Gaudens $20 Gold Double Eagle NGC/PCGS MS64

The Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle, designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, was minted from 1907 to 1933. Often considered the most beautiful piece of coinage struck in American history, the Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle is truly an iconic coin. This stunning example was struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1911 and has been graded in Mint State 64 condition. Out of every 1911-P Saint Gaudens Gold Double Eagle struck, only 978 examples have been graded in MS64 condition with just 205 examples graded higher. With a miniscule mintage of only 197,250 examples and an even lower MS64 population, this example is a tremendous Absolute and Condition Rarity.

Coins like this 1911-P Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle became increasingly rare as a result of President Franklin D. Roosevelt signing Executive Order 6102 in 1933. This order sought to revive the American economy by recalling circulating American gold coins to be melted down.
