1906-D Liberty Head $5 Gold Half Eagle MS62

Description

The Liberty Head Gold Half Eagle, designed by Christian Gobrecht, was minted from 1839 to 1908. One of the longest lasting denominations in United States history, the Liberty Head Gold Half Eagle is the only coin struck at all seven Mints. This specific example was struck at the Denver Mint in 1906 and is graded in Mint State 62 condition. Out of every 1906-D Liberty Head Gold Half Eagle struck, less than 1% have been graded in MS62 condition. With a miniscule mintage of only 320,000 examples and an even lower MS62 population, this 1906-D Liberty Head Gold Half Eagle is considered both an Absolute and a Condition Rarity.
