1901-P Liberty Head Gold Eagle MS64

Description

The Ten Dollar Liberty Head Gold Eagle, designed by Christian Gobrecht, was minted from 1838 to 1907. With a mintage that lasted for 69 years, the Ten Dollar Liberty Head is the most prolific Ten Dollar Gold Eagle minted in United States history. The obverse of this coin portrays a beautiful rendition of Lady Liberty adorned by a coronet inscribed with the word “Liberty.” The reverse of this coin depicts a victorious heraldic eagle and for the first time in Gold Eagle history, the denomination “Ten  D.” Out of all 1901-P Ten Dollar Liberty Head Gold Eagles minted, less than 1% of the entire mintage has been graded in Mint State 64 condition. With so few of these coins graded in Mint State 64 condition, this example is known as a Condition Rarity.
